Chart analysis in MyMarkets:
How to use the charting module effectively

In this article, we take a look at the MyMarkets chart module. We will show you how to find the module, customize it and combine it with other modules in your dashboard.

1. What is a charting tool used for?

A charting tool visualizes the price movements of securities, commodities or other financial instruments. This graphical representation helps traders and investors to recognize trends, identify entry points or evaluate price patterns.

Particularly popular are charts with so called candlesticks, which clearly illustrate price movements over defined periods of time.In our separate tutorial on chart types, we take a closer look at the various options.

2. Where to find the chart module

To integrate the chart module into your dashboard, proceed as follows:

  1. Click on “Modules” in the top navigation bar.
  2. Select “Research & Analysis”.
  3. Add the “Chart” module.

Afterwards you can search for securities by name, WKN or ISIN and select the preferred exchange.

3. Customizing the chart

The chart module can be configured in many ways:

  • Select chart type: e.g. candlestick, line or bar
  • Set the time period: whether daily view or year-long history – everything is possible
  • Customize price scale:
    • Absolute: similar price differences are displayed as the same distance – regardless of the current price level
    • Percentage: shows relative changes

You can use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out as required to view price movements in more detail.

4. Linking with other modules

Link the chart with other modules to enable a seamless workflow. Using the so called link mode, the chart module can receive impulses from other modules and, for example, automatically display financial instruments that you have selected in the watchlist module.

You can find more information on linking modules in our separate tutorial on the link mode.
